Shell Springboard win will help the MonVal Electra versatile fleet bike move to full commercialisation...
Congratulations to Andrew Walters of Walters Next Generation Bicycles on winning a Shell Springboard award, beating several other businesses to the £40,000 prize. The money will enable the company to move into full production and commercial activity.

The bike, the Monval Electra, is mainly aimed at corporate/fleet use, and offers benefits including one-size-fits-all frame, huge load-carrying capacity and high-quality components for low maintenance. Heinzmann electric assist systems offer an additional boost in a well-proven package. As well as being available for purchase, the bikes can be rented. Interest has been expressed by police and paramedics among others - and by private users looking for a comfortable, capable ride.

Monval Electra

Leicester-based Andrew Walters and an early version of his bike were featured on the cover of our Issue 26:

VV26

and you can read the full article about the bike from that issue in PDF format here.

Our coverage was, says Andrew, instrumental in helping attract interest and investment in the business, and we also made available many of the pictures taken for the piece for his promotional and website use. We're delighted that this has helped, and offering such encouragement (all free of charge of course) to anyone trying to 'break into' the cycling world with a good idea is very much part of what we do at Velo Vision.

But of course it's Andrew Walters' own drive and persistence which have really taken him and the Monval bike to this point. Congratulations again! We will have a review of a production bike in a future issue of Velo Vision.
